I have owned my 2005 3.0 patrol for a few months now. I have been down some 4x4 tracks with it.
I have never had any issues , it is like a tractor, it just goes.
Yesterday, I went down a track I have been down a few times before, however, with the rain we have had, it has been washed away
in places.I got into a gully that had 1 wheel in the air and she was leaning well over! I must admit, it was a white knuckle moment for
a newbie like me, but the car just took it in its stride.( the hardcore types would probably laugh at me.)

After that experience, I decided to not tempt fate any further and turned around. (still a bit precious about the paint)
It is still on standard suspension and I am thinking that there is no need to raise it at all.(not for what I want to use it for anyway)

I am wondering what would of happened if I had a roof top tent on it. This must change the centre of gravity quite a bit.
I went through a stage of wanting to get rid of it after hearing all the horror stories of engines grenading etc. But am loving it more every time I
take it off road.

I would guess that your right, the centre of gravity will have changed

however,
there is plenty of people I know with them
so they cannot be that bad............

Great country down there. I was down there earlier this year. No lift but don't have a RTT.

I ordered a RTT and it should be here next week. Not sure the outcome would have been the same with it on, but then again, things
feel worse than they are. I always trust my instincts and at the next deep ravine, called it a day. Can always go back, but getting it recovered after a roll over from a single
track would not be easy.
I am thinking a snorkel would a good idea as the water was rather deep in places.
Yes 4bye4 it great down here, want to get to Esperance in the new year.
