View Full Version : What is above the sub tank?

So for my fans, stalkers and just curious followers you will know the saga that has been the mystery noise.

Until last night it all indicated driveline and after much diagnosis I thought it was gearbox....

Along the way I've learnt a great deal about the girl which will come in handy. I am intimately familiar with auto hubs, diffs, shafts, a lot about the transmission and a decent amount of the transfer case.

Now I have had more than 1 issue which has been difficult but I've resolved / repaired the sticking front left hub. I've also done a fair bit of maintenance as part of the diagnosis process including all fluids on the aforementioned parts as well as new unis...

But the noise persists - and now I've narrowed it down to not be part of the driveline but instead part of the fuel delivery process and the noise seems to be emulating from the sub or above the sub tank....

Hence my question - I know there's a fuel sender gauge unit but given I'm a dual fuel my sub does but transfer fuel to the man instead it functions as an isolated fuel tank. The noise occurs regardless of running lpg or petrol.... What the absolute heck would if be without me having to drop the tank?

1800 to 2200 rpm range - a temps etc - is there a fuel pump down there?

Cheers
