Hi everyone,
I cooked the TD42 with a turbo kit in my patrol :furious: and am planning on buying a new engine for it, i was thinking whilst i am buying a new engine it may as well be a TD42T to suit having the turbo on. :D
My question is do i need to change anything like ECU or? or will the TD42T just bolt in the same as the TD42?
It's a 2002 GU patrol.

Thanks

As far as I know you will be right as a straight swap over. If it were a td42ti, then it may be a different story.

How'd it all go mate? I'm doing the same thing in my shed in about a month or 2. Any thing to look out for? Cheers

I could very well be wrong mate but some of the earliest HT18 stock TD42Turbos may have possibly been oil only thought read once? Our family stock 2000 TD42T wagon is water&oil so hopefully no extra plumbing possibly needed, unsure?

Injector pump covers are different.

TD42T has vac pump under injector pump so if your'e still using your alternator as your vac pump run both.

Different flywheel

Tacho sensor needs spacer made up if TD42T

Brackets are different on power steering mount.

Has dedicated port for oil feed and drain for turbo

Thats all I can think of off the bat mate, start a build thread and we can help you along the way if you want.

Spot on AB but it's the air con bracket that is different and because they are a sought after item they fetch a pretty penny...
The sandwich plate either needs to be swapped to a turbo one or the crank hole grinded out to fit the bigger crank.

Just to add confusion to myself. Will the gq oil feed fittings from the block fit onto the gu engine?
