keeping your distributor water tignt

Hi Guy,

Just wanted to ask how has anyone been able to keep their distributor water tight. Some pics would be good as well. I just want to prep my Patrol for another west coast trip here in TAS.

I bought a TD42, sorted it right out......:p


I have seen guys put it in a plastic bag or even a nitrile glove.

I have plans to plumb in
an air line and pressurise
it to 1-2 psi using an air horn
pump.

i have seen a l/c with a hose into the dizzy from the air compressor next to it. dont know how effective it is but i dont need to. td42 :P every one tells me to wd40 it but again never tried it. not sure about it

Use a air horn compressor with a needle valve to adjust the amount of air you need.
drill and tap a gland in the side of the dizzy, have a switch inside to activate before you enter
a river , bog hole what ever, works a treat on my mate petrol Patrol ,highly recommend

I keep forgetting I've
got the ARB single
pot compressor mounted
under a passenger seat.
I have already raised the
inlet filter to the rear
quarter panel trim.
All I need is to get
two T-pieces, a needle valve,
a 12volt solenoid, a switch
and some hose. I have
already got the nipple
fitted to the timing belt
cover and the dissy cap
has a nipple moulded into it.

It will only have to
barely pressurise
the cap or it may
stuff up the oil seal
and cause a leak.

YYeah only needs a few pounds of air, Run one to the Dizzy the other to your winch
Failing that a Safeway bag and a red rubber band from Aust post, very hi-tek

Hi TD, do you by any chance have a pic of your mates set up. I would live to see it. Has he also sealed the cap to the distributor as well.
