As i stated else ware i have a 2.8 motor in my patrol.
I am just wondering weather to spend much money on the motor or am i better off replacing it with another bigger type.it seems to be running OK at the moment apart from some oil leaks which Nissan are having problems tracing.they seem to be around the Turbo or the manifold.
any info would be greatly appreciated please.
I will add that the rest of the vehicle is in excellent condition.

unfortunately, the RD28 is not a cheap bugger to repair / rebuild
one of the guys in my 4wd club rebuilt his - was a costly exercise I was told
if rebuilding, you can make yourself an awesome kick ar$e beastie - depending on how deep are your pockets
replacing it with a bigger engine - TD42 (as most do to the ZD30) the costs depend on
how mechanically minded you are
what you want - New crate motor / buy a whole GQ or GU with everything you need
how much work you are prepared to do
how much time you have to do it (daily driver / weekend toy)
how deep are your pockets if you need someone to do it for you
basically, gear box, engine mounts, complete cooling system, exhaust, engine bay wiring to name a few.............

Yes i thought that might be the case Ted
The problem is i have now retired so time is not a problem. i grew up in the mountains as my father had timber mills so i know what end of a spanner to hold.
i do have to watch the finance's though so i cannot afford to through money around.
thanks for your reply.
