View Full Version : GU TD42T air con cut out switches...

I have know the GU TD's run two switches, One to cut out the air con if the water temp gets too hot, and the other to switch the thermo's on (I think). I have bought a new OEM radiator for my conversion, ZD to TD, one from a GU this model. I comes with the switch on the right hand side. But not on the left. So I bought one of those too. Two things, I just noticed where the threaded hole should be on the left bottom of the radiator is blocked off. Looks like I could punch a hole in the blocked section, but theres no thread in there to screw the sensor in. Also, I have only found one spare loom on the lower right of the engine bay, with two wires and a plug, of which is the same as the sensor in the radiator itself. I have gone through the wiring diagrams and I can only assume this plug is for this sensor. But what about the other side? No plug or loom at all. And the lower section of the radiator where the plug should go is blocked off.

I'm wondering if I even need to plug the right side in. As the ZD's obviously used the ECU to control this, and I will still be using the ECU. Killa Kustom modifies the loom so it still uses the ECU. Before I ring Killa, again. Any thoughts?

I think you need Eric to come around and lift his bonnet so you can
see whats whats instead of guessing, well not guessing ,but see how it
should look

I'm retaining the tb45E ECU fully expecting it to handle the temp related functions. I'll be fitting the TB45 temp sensors in place of the TD42 sensors.

You might need to bypass the ECU for the A/C power if it's controlled by the ECU because it might be waiting for a "engine is running" signal before it allows the A/C to switch on. That's how it works on mine.

Thanks, I just sent Killa a text asking him for confirmation. If I need to bypass the ECU I will have to find out how....

That shouldn't be hard if you have the ECU pinouts. There'll be A/C power in and out so it's a simple matter of cutting and joining them together.

Ah so its just a matter of joining the in and out wires down at the ECU loom bulkhead?

That's all that's needed with the TB45..

There is only one fan and it is switched with the ac. No thermo as such.

Just to digress a little, my TB45 also has the wiring in place for a second fan on the right side of the grille.
The earth for the relay goes through the ECU but no idea at what temp it switches. I plan to set it up with the TD using a 12" Davies Craig.
