Quick question ...
So car is sold. Now I've only sold one car before this, and it had a RWC. Now this Patrol I sold without one ... As the bloke agreed he will get one done. I didn't think I'd get a RWC with 33"s, but he agreed to take care of it so car is sold as is.
Now, just reading the transfer form...

If he gets a RWC, and it has his name on it, will it matter when he submits the form above ?? Or does the RWC must have MY (sellers) name on it ?

Nab no problem with his name on it, as long as you have filled out the vicroads transfer form. Make sure you take a copy of the form into Vic roads though!
I didn't on the old Falcon I sold about 5 years ago and the bloke never transferred it into his name, I only found out when I got the registration renewal notice a year later!

Thanks mate. Yeh true I suppose I'll take a copy in as well, just in case he doesn't but he will.
So I guess we still tick Yes on the form and submit it once he gets the RWC.
Cheers for clearing that up.

definitely this! I sold a car a while back and trusted the buyer to do the right thing, 8 months later I got a fine for throwing a cigarette butt out the window of it in StKilda(I don't smoke and rarelypass through St Kilda). Had to go to the trouble of getting a stat dec filled out and a bunch of other shit.

You can sell a car without a roady but still with rego.
Its just up to the new owner to get it done. It can be annoying selling as is, and trusting old mate to do the right thing, but whats to say they will do the right thing even if you sell with a roady. they still have to go to main roads and transfer it. No way am i paying the transfer fee on a car i just sold. Fark my ute cost $1000 to transfer

AFAIK not in Vic and some other states.
Without a RWC you are supposed to hand in the plates prior to the buyer taking possession and sell it as unregistered.
It is up to the buyer to get the vehicle sorted out IE inspected, and registered.
Without a RWC they won't process the transfer and the plates stays in the name of the seller unless exempt
In any case (rego or unreg) the buyer pays the Fees not the Seller.

All you do is take to vicroads your part of the transfer form, they change it over, send bill and 30 days to get RWC to new owner or they cancel rego. If it's still in your name after this time just cancel it yourself.
And, yes you are 'suppose ' to sel with RWC. I hold the plates myself and give them back when buyer shows me RWC.
