I have a 2012 Y61.
Does anyone know of or has fitted a winch without using a bull bar.
Is there a kit for this fitting?
Is it something that would be done or just get a winch bar.
Reason I ask is I don't really want a bar but want a winch.
Any information, photos or links would be appreciated.

Hi Rusty00. You can fit a winch with out a bull bar. You need a winch cradle that fits behind the plastic bumper and bolts to the chassis rails. Part of it will poke out of the bumper so that the fairlead can be bolted on. Not sure who makes them but you might be able to get an engineering shop to make one.
TJM use something similar behind their bull bars because none of them are winch bars (like the ARB ones). I am not sure if it can be used on its own or they need the TJM bar as well.

Thanks RT,
Will search the net a bit more and hopefully someone on here has some photos or purchase contact.
I could make one up easily enough.
What winch do you recommend, I am happy to get quality over cheap cost.

If you don't want to pay for a Warn, then something like a RUNVA are very good value. Five year warranty and very good specs. They are not a rebadged generic winch, but made by Runva and sold under their brand name (same as Warn). I have the 9500 comp ($699) winch and so far so good. Have not had a chance to do a really difficult recovery yet but reviews on the net are very good. Lots of YouTube vids as well.

G'day rusty00,
This is where I got my winch cradle

Not cheap but cheaper than a new bar. Removed the alloy bar then mounted cradle to chassis then mounted winch to cradle then bar back on. A very easy operation and looks good.

Not sure you will be able to fit them on the later models, you need access to the two captive nuts under the chassis
near the shipping tie down point. Happy to be wrong.
It would save a lot of weight over the front,
check this link for fitment
