Looking at the up-grade air filter boxes on the net, some use a conical shaped aftermarket element, or a flat panel, but hay looks to be same square area of medium as std element.
that is the ones I was looking at so I can keep aux battery under bonnet,
I presume the extra large custom boxes are for hi hp competition rigs, not relevant in this instance.
daily drive looking at little more than the std upgrades.
eg mod plenum is on the cards for that extra drivability, including hi way cruising towing near 3ton.
guess we're looking at the all the 1% ers to improve towing, holidays, and daily.

so the restriction is the oem box size and box port size??
(the restricted outlet has already been opened up).
As someone said, please explain.

Id like to keep std oem snorkel if that's possible!:trink13:

The restriction in the standard box isnt so much the inlet and outlet size but the actual filter in the housing.

The boxes you are talkong about will help you either way. Doesnt need to be a comp rig to see/feel the gains of a well designed airbox.

Do they still do a panel style?

Its ok. Definitely better than the standard zd30/42t item. There are loads of options. Radius fabrication, fatz, millweld, 4by fab and others that I cant recall.

Regardless of turbo if you have 4" from snorkel all the way to turbo with a good airbox the results easily speak for themselves. As much as some people think they are ugly a ram head also has its place not just for its water/dust speration ability but also flow.

I cant see on their website for a panel type filter setup. This is something i think i need to do, maybe not yet, funds depending. Without moving the battery tray would be ideal. Got some researching do...

This is something I'm looking at as well. Would like a panel filter, but would also like not to have to move the battery.

4by fab do a panel style that should allow you to keep your second battery. Not 100% sure if the radius panel will allow second battery in standard location. But most do allow the second battery to be retained.

Thanks Newby. I'll check out 4by Fab. I've looked into the Radius one a fair bit, it gets a lot of good press, uses a $9 Filter that fits your standard Ford, so they're available everywhere, but the 2nd battery has to be moved about 80mm back towards the firewall, also means that vacuum canister or whatever it is has to be moved also.

The piping from box to turbo can get a bit messy with some of those boxes.... even the fatz one

That's why I like the Radius one even though I got to move the battery. The outlet on the box is angled at 45deg back towards the turbo.

Nar didn't fit a zd30 box, it's std fit as far a I can tell.
that ebay one wont fit in to keep aux battery, abs and vac cylinders in the way.
someone else may like the look of it though.
thanks

Only if you use to much silicon hose. Some people love that stuff lol
