Hi everyone just a quick question hoping someone can help me out. I have a TB45 auto when going from 2h to 4h its fine and smooth. But if I try going from 4h to 4L it grinds and will just not select 4L. However if I turn the car off and move into 4L and restart its fine. And then same going from 4L back all the way to 2H I have to turn the car off
All this is done whilst parked
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

are you stationary when you go from 4H to 4L and visa versa?
or still moving?

have you checked the fluid level in the transfer case?

have you had a look underneath to see if anything is "jammed" near the selectors?

Need to ensure you are in Neutral in the automatic gearbox, if you are in Park you will get this issue also need to be not moving

When undoing the nut lots of fluid poured out so I quickly did it up. Can too much fluid cause it?

Well that throws a spanner into works. On another forums it says make sure you're in park not neutral as neutral will cause issues haha

There should be instructions on the back of your sun visor if in doubt, but agree that you need to be in neutral to shift between 4h and 4l in the patrol

Check your owners manual champ clearly states in there to change between 4H and 4L ensure you are in Neutral.

That's right, the manual says that you must be in NEUTRAL and NOT MOVING, it must be a swift movement between 4H and 4L same going back the other way. If there is any delay and you have the transfer case lever in neutral for anything longer than straight through it will grind and be stuck in neutral with the only way out turning the motor off. I did the exact same thing when I got mine and shat myself thinking that I had bought a lemon. Reading the manual I found that it is completely normal for the autos.
