I've tried a set of the narva ones (rebranded truck lite) that are ADR approved and didn't like them, blotchy light patten and had a defined line across your vision that would wave at you as you went over hills and bumps, at $600 odd bucks not good enough.

I'm of the opinion the led lighting is not quite there yet distance wise.

trying new technology as it evolves.
Filiment and gas globes are from Edison times.

If you're looking at headlight upgrades give Mick a go, haven't heard a bad word yet and everyone who's tried them seems to loves them.

Nah dont like the Projetor look, plus they have a cut off point.
All the LEDS Ive brought with a magnified glass over the top
seems that the light just stops,no distance
Plus Projectors arent ADR as well

The "Speaker" brand ones are the only half decent LED headlights I've seen but they are an entire 7" headlight and not just a globe, so no good for your GU.
I think you're leading yourself up the garden path... like you said, the LED technology is just not there yet.

I run the narva 120+ adr approved with plenty of light, and a light bar. Its all I need for around my place where its pitch black.

me personally, I'm replacing my HID headlamps and going back to 100/55w halogens.............. HIDs give me the shits because youve got to angle your lights down too much to avoid dazzling other drivers and for me the colour they give off is shit, does nothing to improve my night driving vision. The sealed beams on my old clunker were better for efffs sake (personal opinion)
I'm hazarding a guess that the led jobbies would be roughly the same.

And TD the point of the cut off in projectors is so that they dont dazzle oncoming drivers like standard hids do. When you pop them onto full beam then its another story

Im not a fan of the projector style lights, regardless.
Sealed beams are perfect for a 4x4 if doing bog holes etc all the time.
Gets expensive changing reflectors all the time as your lights have filled with mud.
Being made of plastic {GU} limits the wattage you can fit ,if too high things will
start to melt I suppose

just make sure you upgrade your wiring too, if you haven't already done so.

That will be happening when i rewire pretty much everything coz the previous owner was clueless, unfortunately tho that's pretty much all on hold till after I've fixed the builders mistakes and landscaped so maybe in next year if i don't find more stuff wrong with this house! (Sorry little off topic)

Nah IMO i dont think Leds for Hi-beam are there yet, I'll tick with
my 75 watt headlights hi-low and 100watt HID driving lights. Up top
I have a 240 watt spot beam only led light bar. Not sure if leds
head lights will give me better light penetration, if I switch on everything.
I rarely go night 4x4ing, would rather sit around a fire. lol
