I'm building a canopy which will be used for sleeping in.
I'm stuck on the lock design. I need something that can be opened from outside and inside but not stick out far past the skin.
As always budget is tight. And I'm sorta in a hurry. She now needs it in 2 weeks lol.
So what are you guys using??

On my one the T handle (one per door) turns a horizontal bar which operates much like on a garage roller door, but my doors sit against the outside of the body, with the bar sliding inside the frame.

The bloke who was here yesterday to buy my rooftop tent had a brand new custom built canopy made in Adelaide. His doors were inset, flush with the outer body. His handles (two per door)
turned a lever which pulled tight behind a horizontal frame rail along the bottom of the door openings.

Whichever way the locking is done I reckon including some microswitches which give an alarm in the cab if the ignition is switched on whilst a canopy door is unlocked is very cheap insurance against expensive damage. Matey who bought the tent told of driving down the road with a door up in the air & oncomming drivers flashing & pointing. When I bought mine the switchs were out of adjustment & would come on going around corners which was irritating, so I disconnected them ...... until I came within a bees dick of ripping a door off when reversing out of a shed. With it properly adjusted I wouldn’t be without it now.

These are what I have, but modified to operate the rear crossbar.

Either could be opened from inside.

Thanks cuppa. I doubt she'll go for it as she is on a budget but I'll ask anyway.
So those locks of yours are outside operation only I guess?
Looks like I may be going the fold down t handle option with a modified back end

Mine's the same as Cuppa's one.

If anybody has or is getting one with a bi-fold door, watch your fingers.

Last year it cost me a trip to hospital in an ambulance, 8 stitches and 2 weeks off work.

Blessed I didn't lose a finger!!!
