Set about installing a new stero today and upon removing the facia and disconnecting the hazard and demister plug, I noticed another plug (brown) taped to the loom.

Can anyone tell me what it's for?

you may find spare plugs all over the patrol,
they have one loom I think that will do a few models

Its not the OE radio plug is it?

I took the original stereo out of it today, and that one wasn't connected to it.

Nfi mate but as 3D says there will be spare plugs all over depending on specs of the patrol, I have a dx and there are lots for electric windows, Seats etc

I think the OE radio head unit plug has 16 outlets,
