hi thought id sign up for this forum after owning my patrol for awhile now and using the wealth of information from this site on numerous occasions. My name is Brodie and Live in Cairns, North Queensland, i am 20 years old and have alway wanted a patrol from a very young age, but could never afford one, after spending most of my P's driving(and blowing up haha) a multiple of sporty cars, being your typical male p plater who likes cars, after warping the head on my skyline in townsville at the start of the year i finally wised up and when on the hunt for a patrol, i was after a gq coil ute and after looking at several at the time, there was none that were in decent condition for my price range :( So after almost loosing hope i want to look at the last car on the list of available, an 89 gq wagon, td42 manual, im not 100% sure on what modal it is, but is the bottom of the range, it doesnt have the rear boot seats, originally had a bench seat in the front, no extra features, vinyl interior, manual every thing, even drum brakes in the rear, but to my surprise it was a one owner, was almost completely stock with the only upgrades being, a 145l long range tank, that was modplated for, a roof cage and single seats and a centre console from a better model, it had done 395000 kms, had only ever seen like offroad use, basically just touring on dirt roads as the hardest use, and in the late 90s had the body stripped rust repaired and resprayed, the paint job hasnt lasted, its starting flake off around the truck, but i feel in love with it straight away, it ran like a dream and started first go everytime. I made the fella an offer and later that day it was mine, registered and roadworthy, i got it for a steal of a price.

This is how she looked when i got her

G'day Brodie.

Welcome to the forum and great to see another young bloke wise up early on. lol

Be careful of your coin. This forum is very addictive and it's soooo easy to spend, spend, spend.

My suggestion to you is to work out what you want versus what you need. Spend a bit and save a bit.

Take care out there.
