hi can anyone help, the torque converter is aligned in the box ok, how do you get the bolts in behind the flex plate to bolt them together?
Appreciate any help Pezzer.

You don't mention which vehicle. A TB45E auto has a small removable plate on the left side of the backing plate.
The TD42 auto has the backing plate in 2 sections so you put the lower section in place after you've tightened the TC bolts
Each model of RE4R03A has a spec for the distance the TC must enter into the trans. This is to ensure the oil pump is fully engaged. Failure to respect that distance can, and has, cause damage to the pump.
