Hooked up my reverse camera and vision is ok .
Trouble is I need to go into menu,, select camera to get an image.
The yellow rca goes is marked rear camera and power for rear camera
is from the reverse lights. I'm thinking I need to combine two wires from the head unit
any info would be great. I'v never needed one before [reverse camera]
as I can judge things pretty well, more a novelty I think not a neccessity.

Hi threedogs..wired mine up today as well but sounds like mine is a little different.
Apart from the RCA Lead, My Camera had a red/black wire for Power.
The cable that ran from the head unit to the Camera (which was the RCA Cable) had an extra wire in it which is connected to the Reverse Lights and is the Trigger for the head unit.
So in summary..RCA from head unit to Camera. Camera has own Power. Trigger wire from Head unit to reverse lights
This is what causes (on my head unit) to flick to the camera when in reverse. What sort of head unit do you have?

I have the chinese eonon copy, I have heaps of cameras and leads ,
One lead I have has that red power wire both ends, I might take it to JB HI-FI
as you said I need to trigger the head unit some how,. Went to try it today,
and just as I put it in reverse the phone rang [blue tooth], but the final white line
is 150mm clear of the rear of the patrol, any idea what colour the reverse wire is
on the head unit?? So I take it the front yellow rca needs to be selected via the menu,
and the other triggered by the reverse position?

Ok Testing my Paint skills here but here is how mine is setup.
The red 'trigger' wire and the RCA lead are one wire (Its an RCA lead with a extra sticking out each end)
The Wire from the Head unit is purple (All my cables were actually labelled which made it easier for me) , which is now soldered to the red trigger wire. The trigger wire is then spliced into my Reverse light.
The Camera has its own 12v Power source so is basically on all the time. SO driving along I can hit the camera button (on the head unit) and see the view out the back, or when I select reverse it triggers the switch to and from the reversing camera

Looking at the EON head units..Pin 5 of the big plug seems to be the reverse camera trigger
Don't know if yours is different. That lead with the red power wire each end..is that also RCA at each end with a red power lead hanging out? If it is that is the Camera Video and the trigger wire. So one end of the red wire goes to the revers light, and the other to the head unit trigger

It seems I need to find that purple trigger wire for reverse
an splice it into the reverse wire somewhere on the centre console
@Doka I did buy a switch for the reverse camera, but selecting reverse seem good enough for me.
I have some video splitters if I want more cameras, front wheels or winch rope

I cant seem to find what color it would be on your head unit. Send me the model details etc and will try and get hold of a mate who does installs and see if he has an idea

I think its purple but have it all sussed now thanks
I want to run it via a carling switch, so think switch will trigger
screen and selecting reverse will trigger rear camera

I want some forward facing camera for underneath for doing slow rocky stuff.
Once you get used to the image it might be of help, plus some lights as well,
I also might put one at the back of my camper just to use up some of the gear I have
