I'm looking for info or pics on the differences in the exhaust hanging points between turbo and N/A GUs.
I wanted to order a 3" system from Scott's Rods so sent an email asking if a small change to standard was possible - I'm mounting the turbo 100 mm further forward.
I received an answer saying I would need a custom exhaust for my conversion because the non-turbo GUs had different hanging points.
I thought to myself that there can't be too many different paths for the exhaust to follow and I couldn't see why the turbo would be different from the gearbox back.
Anyone have any precise info on this or pics of the underside that show the differences?

Maybe you can cut the hangers off your new exhaust and reweld them to match present body hangers?
On second thoughts maybe the extra 100mm to match up to your turbo may be a problem negotiating the firewall?

I'm moving it 100 mm forward not backwards. There'll be tons of room near the firewall.
I'd like to see what the differences are to get an idea how much it needs modifying.

as far as I know the difference between the N/A and the Turbo models was just the heat shields
maybe THATS what he was talking about
but if its not a standard fitting exhaust, yes it will be custom, go to your local muffler place and have a yarn with the guy there

Not many local exhausts shops around here set up to do mandrel bends.
Scotts Rods are known to do a good job so I'm buying it there. I'm equipped to modify it within reason. Just want to see what I'm in for.
This is the turbo moved 100 mm forward. It will have the 3" dump on it later.

Can scotts rods just add 100 mm to the first section of pipe before welding the flange in? 100mm is an easy measurement surely not a hard ask for someone who does this everyday.

I'm guessing they have preset lengths that they feed into the bender and the computer takes it from there. I'm ok with doing the 100 mm insert, in fact I prefer just in case it's 103 or whatever. That allows me to also adjust it slightly if required.
I just don't want to have to cut all the hangers off and weld them elsewhere. Lengthening or shortening wouldn't be too much work.
If nobody knows, I'll try to get the info from Scotts..

The last exhaust I put on was to originally na. All we did was order a 3" turbo exhaust all the hangers were the same. We made our own dump pipe. The only difference i was aware of was between wagon and ute as the ute has more room at the back.
If you have to move any hangers it will only be one for the first section the rest will be the same. But you can quite easily throw you 100mm extension in without modifying the hanger position.

I think I'll just get under mine and take a few pics of my hanging points and send them to Scotts and see what they say.
