I recently purchased a turbo kit for my GQ TD42; so I started looking for a pyro and boost gauge. Found the following :

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EGT-PYRO-GAUGE-52mm-Turbo-Diesel-PYROMETER-Suit-Nissan-Toyota-/130650404390?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item1e6b5ef626

Spoke with the buyer, and asked if he could do a deal if I was to order a few. Following prices if we buy over 25 units :

Pyro $99
Boost $72
Oil temp $72
Oil press $82
Water $66

Plus $10 for postage.

Posting this thread to see if anyone is interested .

Cheers
John

Hey john assuming you have a turbo diesel you want a boost guage showing positive boost only as there is no Vacuum on a diesel.

In relation to the group buy, are you trying to get this up on any othe r forums too or just here? Given your a new member I have to show caution on behalf of the membership here. If there is interest we would need to discuss how payments would be handled. We have Vendor rules here also to be fair. Happy to leave this up for a bit to see if there is interest. Your Pyro price is very good.

Just had a look at the item on ebay from a computer, the gauges look good but the gauge ranges are terrible for a diesel IMO.

You really want a Boost gauge in Positive grange only as there is No Vacuum.

The Pyro gauge is off the scale mate, I am in need of a Pyro so was interested but that one is not suitable for a Turbo Diesel either in my opinion. The temp range is Massive!

You want a Pyro that reads to maybe 900 at best cause the engine will be dead at 700..... That gauge reads to 1200 and all that does is make the increments tiny. most of the movement that your after is in the firs t 1/4 and safe range is below 550 which on that is at 9oclock. I would caution you against running those gauges on your car bud.

Please see this gauge for a much better increment for your car.

note that ^^^^^ is gauge only price and does not include the Pyro sensor

Mudrunner, I did pm a moderator before I posted this thread up, and this is the only forumn I have posted on. Regarding payments, I don't handle money at all, eBay is used to purchase this item. I have no association with the seller; but because I own my own business, I'm always asking sellers how much if I buy such and such amount.

I did have a look at other gauges, the reason I chose these was simply because you can set an alarm on them which triggers light and sound to warn you. I don't want a guage were I have to constantly look at with no way of warning me of set parameters.

If anyone has a Guage similar, that has better increments I'm all for it.

CHeers mate, i have now a pm from you but have not looked at the link yet, on the run here.

I would be more inclined for a digital pyro if you just want the alarm to be honest as the gauge in that increment is nearly redundant. 200 degree increments is huge mate when you want to know the difference between 380 and 420! I will come back to this when i have more time though.

Hi John, I’m all for folk combining together to save a dollar & wish you well in your effort. In that light, please take the following comments as constructive.

Having successfully organised a group buy discount (on battery monitors imported from the UK) on forums in the past, I would also suggest that finding 25 committed takers is probably overly optimistic.

Organising a group discount without first having established your ‘credibility’ on the forum, whilst not impossible, is more difficult.

Organising a group discount for ‘known’ items of quality are more likely to get up.
eg. I’m guessing that if a group discount were obtainable on Redarc gauges there would be a fair bit of interest, as I think they are recognised as being about as good as you can get,but their high price puts them out of reach for many. (Whether such a discount is obtainable I have no idea).

If anyone else wants to organise a group discount ........... E-lockers for Patrols would be a good one! I’d be in it. Any takers? :)

I understand about being a "newbie" and so forth. I was on another forum where I organised group buys (I did pm mudrunnertd the links). Reason I don't have many posts, from experience on other forums; most of the questions have been answered so I'm simply going through previous posts on here instead of asking the same question. Good point about having a pyro with better increments and a boost Guage that doesn't have vacuum. More than happy for someone here to recommend a better Guage and see if we can get a good deal.

As for the e locker, you can count me in if the price is right.

Cheers
John

hi John,
I bit the bullet about 2 years ago and brought the Autometer triple gauge's
they have since been brought out by Redark - but I think they dropped the triple's

THEY have warning light & bell when things get over the "pre-set" parameters...
on my Boost the alarm goes off at 10lb and the gauge turns red

as Cuppa said, group buys with well known items at a good price are a better idea

Hi Col,
I know you meant Autron. ;)
Redarc do still have some triple function gauges, but I have no idea if they took on the complete Autron range. Something I read elsewhere suggested they had consolidated/rationalised the range when they took over Autron. http://www.redarc.com.au/products/category/monitoring-gauges/ The pain in my wallet has now subsided & I love my gauges.

I've seen the auto meter ones on eBay, but for $$$ I can't just justify them. I have twin aeroforce ones from the states in my VE and they are brilliant. My thinking was that for under $200 you could buy a pyro and boost Guage.
