I have a 2012 GU Patrol that weighs in at about 3.3 tonne when I go offroading. I am running 315/70R17 Mickey Thompsons MTZ's on 17X8 King Steel Rims. I have been running 25psi when offroading up from 20psi due to this issue. I am getting debris between the bead and the rim on a very regular basis which causes a flat tyre obviously. I was after some opinions on what could be the cause of this and how to stop or is just bad luck? Cheers Kurt

I have also had a similarly bad experience with Micky thomsons.

Driving style and pressure does play a big part in the issue as well. Have you found that upper tyre pressures have helped or not? Maybe try driving a little slower.

In the end I got rid of my Micky t's because they were rubbish. I have since been running bfg km2s and have had no issues. Been down to about 15 psi. Usually run at 20 off road.

Do they recommend 8" rims for 315mm tyres
I feel a wider rim may solve the problem

I run 305/70/16 MTZ and also have similar problems.

When speaking to my tyre shop after the 6th tyre fix in 2 local trips, he said my rims were ok (16x8 steelies) but it just came down to a combination of things - lower pressures (ave 23 psi), steep muddy down hill accents which peeled back the tyre from rim (allowing mud and debris into break the bead) as I bounced down the ruts and speed.... And perhaps mickey t tyres?

Mickey Ts seems the common thread I ran my MTs at 16 off road and never had a problem
My mate had 285 BFG muds and peeled them off every trip,
