So I'm wanting to do the upgrade hoping to find a set of 4.8 ones to do the swap but would settle for anything since mine are snagged. Question is do I need to swap out my rotors or is it as simple as calliper? Anything I may be forgetting out don't know about I've heard some people say about getting a better master cylinder for sone reason or another. Anyone know a good place to look for the brakes? Id try the wreckers intown but everytime I do someone beats me to it. Thanks for the help

Im pretty sure you cant as the calliper brackets and spacing are all different. The gu diffs are larger in the cv and the brakes are also larger.

You might be able to get away with adaptors but you wont be able to change the mountings due to legalities i would believe

Definitely rotors and calipers, might even be wise to upgrade the brake lines too.......... and thinking about it some more, seeing as they're a bigger beast, you may even need to replace the brakes master cylinder but hopefully someone alot more knowledgeable can give a definitive answer.
You could however try and get a set of twin pot brake calipers off a TB42E and nothing more will really be needed as far as I remember

Oh and if you go for the tb48 option, you'll also need 17" rims as I dont think 16s will fit

Yah the easiest and probably cheapest way to do that mod would be a full front diff swap off a GU. I have a GU front diff on my GQ and the Brake upgrade is worth every second of work it took. Mine is not a 4.8 front but the w pot brakes off any GU are amazing on a GQ.

I also have Braided Brake lines.

Dad runs 16"s in his 4.8. 15"s don't fit though

Cheers

How do you find they pull up compared to the original brakes? Did you need to get the master cylinder also?

Off the page mate!!!!! Soooo much better! Transformed the car. Did the swap for the stronger CBs the brake upgrade was not really considered at the time but the first time I hit the brakes I was blown away! Crazy good by comparison.
