Hi all,

I bought a 2008 Nissan Patrol GU DX in 2011 and have had nothing but grief from it. Went to do the Old Telegraph Track in QLD and the Lemon died on us. Had to have it put on a road train back down to Cairns and wave good bye to the others.

Then it developed an issue where once it hit 100km it lost power for 10 secs. Have paid to have it fixed twice but the issue is still there and just keeps getting worse. Before it was only happening occasionally, now it is every time you get to 90-100km, the power disappears and then fluctuates. With my foot to the floor I was doing 85km on the freeway the other week. Now the lemon is banished to the garage to grow rust cos I'm so sick of its issues I dont want to even look at it.

My partner wont let me sell the blasted thing and I want to go camping and 4x4ing damnit, but I cant with the car pulling this sorta shit.

So I'm desperate. Has anyone seen this issue before? Do you know of anyone that might have? Do you know a freaking amazing auto guy that will be able to fix it. All and any help appreciated guys.

I feel for you was there a TPS recall on your model?
Also buy a scan gauge so you can re set any errors.
what Mods have you done

Not many mods. I was just looking at a similar issue in an Isuzu thread and they said it could be a blocked fuel filter or the timing gear bearings. I'll have a look into the TPS recall - thanks

did your engine light come on??
Have a read up on NADS to it may help you understand how these ZD30s work.
Google Chaz Yellowfoot he is IMO the guru on these motors

Nope, no engine lights came on. I'll look up NADS and Chaz.
Feel like I'm going to shell out a bundle to get this 'fixed' and it's still gonna be broke. Spoke to Nissan today and they want to charge me $240 just for a diagnostics - yet last time we paid for that we were told nothing was wrong. Cant freakin afford this right now, and cant go camping till this POS is fixed.

It does sound like a fuel delivery issue? As threedogs has said get onto Chaz he is the guru

Do you have a boost gauge? Id change the fuel filter for a start. Tps could.be shot but if it were it would do this at any speed where the pedal is at the same position as it does at 100k. Of you can get a hold of a scan gauge this could tell you more...

I think SuperCheap will tell you any error codes for well under $240.
Not sure what they charge, but a Scan-gauge is a good investment

I do remember seeing the prices start at $15 from SCA to plug into your OBDII port.

Damn I was just down there getting some wiper re-fills and forgot to ask. doh
looks like there are 3 members with a similar problem, pretty confident MH has his sorted out
by finding a leaking IC, now for the other 2.

just as a thought, I had a similar problem when I had the zd30 in my gu a few years back, ended up being the vacuum hose that went to the turbo actuator rubbed through.

I had loss of power, albeit very intermittent. Then I saw there was a recall a while back for the accelerator sensor. Called Nissan to find out whether my car ever had the recall done. It hadn't, so I booked it in. The result is sensational, it has much more power and acceleration. It's like it's a different motor, even the boss notices the difference.... :)

OOI do you have gauges fitted, cheap insurance and an easy way to diagnose faults, imo
