Strange whine when taking off and accelerating

Hi all,

My 08 CRD has developed a strange high pitched whine when taking off and accelerating when cold. Once it warms up it settles down, there is not drop in performance but she is due for a new exhaust as the old one is knackered! Thought it might be the belt so wacked a heap of dressing on it but it has made no difference.

Any ideas?

I had a similar issue on our old work GU 2000 3 litre and it was a warped manifold.

Exact same high pitched whine when accelerating when cold but after a few minutes when heated up the gap would close up and no sound.

Does it sound like turbo whine?

Na its not a turbo whine, was it your exhuast or inlet manifold AB?

Just reading up, sounds like its a common problem! Was due for a new exhuast anyway so will get the whole lot done in one hit!
