Hi all,

New to the site but have been reading the forums for a awhile. Need some what's next advice!

Have a 07 Nissan GU Patrol with zd30 that has started making noise! At first it was only at idle and every second revolution. Replaced timing chain and tensioner. Took for a drive as noise had stopped. Got home and idling in driveway noise started again.

Have listened everywhere to try and diagnose and can't locate noise. So did a purge and changed fuel filter, now noise then ever!

Have also taken glow plugs out checked and cleaned, taken off serpentine belt to check pulleys etc and not there either. Short of pulling engine out, any other suggestions to try?

Hi there and welcome.
So this noise went away when timing chain was replaced, but returned after? I know it doesn't mean much, but it's pointing in that direction again maybe?

what have you used to check noises eg did you use a piece of hose. to check around the engine try around the exhaust gasket and under the turbo. anything else happening like more blow by anything.

Welcome to the forum. More info may help. What Hodge said is true. Is everything done up properly after the timing chain replacement?

Thanks kevin07 have used a sthesescop to listen every where. Have listened to everything from top to bottom. no engine lights on to point to a particular direction. Thoughts?
