Trying to resist the urge to crank the fire open all the time... We sit right in front of the fire at night time in the lounge so we can keep it closed and still be fairly warm.

This time of year i defiantly don't miss living in that neck of the woods mate. I have thought about going home for a winter holiday but its way too cold for me after living in Perth.

Only when walking between the shed & the house. Only felt like - 3C out of the wind inside the shed! Enough to make the fingers not want to do what I wanted them to do. Not an ideal situation for using a table saw! Still have them (fingers) all though!

We are low too... got about a weeks worth left! Should do a nice big trip this weekend and hopefully that will be me done for this season!

My mate has rang me a few times to say he wants a paddock cleared of a couple of fallen trees and that it's really good wood... bloody bullshit green wet crap.

Mum's boss has a huge property with dozens of fallen trees, all stacked up with his excavator... roll one off and cut it up. I need to go back there!

I reckon a smaller coonara in good condition properly sealed is very efficient.

I've only gone through 2m3 this winter.

My brother has a massive wood heater and he has smashed the wood.

My other friend has a dodgy seal and has also smashed triple my consumption.

mmmmmm I thought your heater was pretty good thinking that you loaded it up got it going and then shut it down and enjoy the heat of the evening till morning then load up again but then again you are always in minus below wich wont help
you could collect dry cow pats they go well in the heater bit like briquettes

I had a good batch this year mate, I've done well so far.

Yep, exactly what I do but not having good hardwood don't help and we have had a farcking cold one. Close to 200sqm is a lot of space to heat though and Fiona likes to crank it up a little in the evenings.lol

Luckily enough the fireplace does it with ease but hungry...lol

I'm trying these cow pats too :)

We're tearing through the firewood at work. We had a 25 tonne load come in this morning, which will all be gone by Thursday arvo, ready for the next load on Friday morning.
Keeps me out of trouble, I guess.

Nah, we've probably been through 2.5 tonne ourselves so far mixing grey box with rubbish local wood.

We run 2 fires 24/7 and another 2 on weekends. Go out once a month and fill the car trailer until the springs are straight with 10 foot logs. Local wood is rubbish which is why we drive 3 hours to get it. Still works out cheaper than buying it.
We'll be filling the ute from Licola next weekend.
