HI guys... i have a question.... does anyone know if a HG46 (any 4.6 Ratio\variant ) will do to match with a 4.636 front? or does it actually have to be the exact ratio? e.g 4.636 both front and rear? My axle plate says HG46 ... yet my rear diff is shot... i'm looking for a second hand one.

Don't know an awful lot about it but yes they have to be the same. There was a thread going here a while back were a bloke had a missmatch and there was a lot of discussion on it.

hmmm... excellent thanks.... that gives me some food for thought.... he was working with a 4.3 and a 4.1 ,,, i am wondering about a 4.636 and another variant of a 4.6 surely there can't be a huge difference with say 4.636 and 4.666 for example while it is different it isn't that much?? e.g this is from another post ..
(here is two ratios of 4.6 that fit the rear H233B 4.625 out of GQ/GU and 4.636 out of Navara...

The h233b diff centres should be the same - but spline count could be an issue - ie the gq front & backs are h233b one has a 31 the other 33 spline count (by memory)

Can you reuse your ring and pinion? and swap centres (as long as the r & P are ok)
