Hi all. Having transmission problems, when I select drive nothing happens. it does feel like it engages but nothing happens , when I select first gear it grabs perfect, last owner says that he had to select first gear to take off and once moving he selected drive. Thinking about changing trans fluid and filter but thought that I would someone else's input. cheers

Shouldn't need to change filter. It's a metal gauze unit that can be washed.
When you drop the pan you'll get an idea of any possible damage by the amount of metal on the magnet. Also the smell and colour of the trans fluid.
Does the 'Power' light blink on the Power/Hold switch when you turn the ignition on? If so, that will indicate any electrically related faults with the trans/TCU.

Hi jff45. No mate the light comes on and doesn't flash. I will remove the transmission pan soon and check the fluid. I have a feeling that the fluid needs replacing but also think there is something else wrong, do you think that it could be the bands slipping
Thanks for your help,

There's only 1 band in the RE4R03A and it can be adjusted externally.
The factory service manual PDF has some pretty complete fault diagnosis procedures.
Issues with solenoids or connections should light up the Power light with a series of flashes.
If the fluid doesn't smell burnt and there is only minimal deposits on the magnet then you might get away with a flush and filter clean.
Strip and rebuild the valve body might also help if you're mechanically able.
Drop the pan first and see what questions it answers..

Jff45 line blinks on startup. Is there a way to find out the blink code is?

Yes, the at.pdf has a detailed description of the procedure.
You can find a copy online if you Google 'at.PDF tb45e'

Is it something you can troubleshoot yourself?
You might need to drop the pan to trace the circuit from the TCU to the connector on the valve body. You can then test the resistance of the solenoid to see if that's the issue.
