What happened to Son of Trials

I did the Nissan Patrol Club Son of Trials and the Plus event a couple of years ago and they were great events. I thought I would check to see when the next one was and it appears to have been cancelled:

Does anyone know what happened? I presume the Son of Trials Plus is also cancelled?
