My 2004 3lt overheats when I turn my interior fan on. With and without a/c on. Have flushed radiator, cleaned leaves etc from the front. Have big spotties, but I don't think it's it. Doesn't make much sense to me. If anyone has had this problem or knows why it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

must have missed something but whats the interior fan,
you were saying it over heats at HWY speeds.
Change the thermostat to an OE one or test your old one first

Interior meaning a/c. when I use aircon it overheats. What I was saying is I can understand it getting hot on the beach, but it seems weird on the highway. Sorry to confuse you bud👍

Hey mate, just double checking also.

If you put the fan on regardless of the ac switched on or off (just fan only) it overheats?

If no fan on you have no issues with overheating at all?

At highway speeds with no fan on its fine but when fan on regardless of ac actuated or not it overheats?

Do you know what degrees it is or just the needle sits at what level?

Temp goes up with fan on and a/c on or off its the same. Temp needle goes over that 3/4 line and still rises till I drop back to 80km or less. If I turn the fan off it drops back to normal about 1/3

Just the needle, but can smell the heat

Have you given both the ac radiator and the engine radiator a good external clean to get any mud / dirt out from in between the cooling fins ,

Cheers for the kind words mate but we haven't solved your problem yet.

I don't understand how just the fan only can be causing overheating issues and I'm thinking the problem is elsewhere so hopefully someone else can shimmy in?

Just confirming you have no issues at all with overheating if you do not run the fan?

Have you driven 100km + with no fan on and all is ok?

Have had the problem without the fan, but only on the beach in low range and hi revs after 20-30mins. Also have had the problem on the highway without the fan, but was a 42deg day and I got the temp down when I dropped back to 80km/h and under. Thanks👍

It can be a cool day under 20deg and the fan still cranks up the temp. 😕

Is there any chance the viscous clutch is only half good and can only keep up under good conditions. I only offer this as a discussion point, I really don't know.

Just wondering is the temp actually rising or it a false reading when the fan is on?

I like having an after market temp gauge... not a cheap one as I would not trust them too much either.

I agree about not trusting gauges - but he has said in an earlier post that he can smell the heat when it overtemp.

Yep can smell the hot oil, but I will look into a temp gauge. Good idea👍

With the heater on go find a steep incline ,,invert a coke bottle into the top of the radiator.
and "BURP" the cooling system , you may have an "AIR LOCK".
One less thing on your list to cross off.
Stay there long enough for thermostat to open
