Hi. My parter left the lights on. I noticed after a few hrs and turned them off. Went to start the next morning and now it won't start. It turns over fine, but no glow plug light on dash. Yes it really was my partner as I can hear the beep lol. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated??? Cheers

Did you try jumping starting the vehicle?

Does the check engine light (MIL) in the dash come on when you turn the ignition on? does the alternator/battery light in the dash come on?

Is the red security light on top of the dash still flashing when you turn the key to start? Have you a second key you can try?

Any chance you could of connected the jumper leads up back to front?

Sounds like the ECM is not powering up. There is an ECM relay that may be faulty. Try swapping the relay with one of the same colour. The ECM relay is located above the fusebox inside the vehicle. It's the one on the top right. There are 5 relays there, you may need to remove the plastic trim from above the pedals to see all the relays.

Hi mate. If you can borrow a good battery from another car and actually change it into yours you might be better off. With diesels, the current draw with glows and starter motor is very high and unless your jumper leads are really good quality they may not cut the mustard. We have customers who often try and start their truck mounted machinery by jump starting from their car. If they are using Kmart or SCA leads thay often won't do it. Just a thought.:)

Thanks 3D,

The bottom left one is the ignition relay. I don't think this is the problem because he said the alternator light is coming on.

The ECM relay is the brown relay top right. Swap this relay with another brown relay. There is one in the relay box beside the battery.

After swapping the relay see if the glow plug and check engine lights in the dash work.

Tried swapping relays. Did use a good jump kit that's worked before. Might be a tow to the auto sparky jobby, just didn't wanna go there as I'm rural and last time he charged me $250 to fit two tail lights on my trailer (4 tek screws)

So you swapped the brown relays and the lights still aren't on?

Check fuses 49 and 50 in the fusebox under the bonnet, make sure they aren't blown.

Do you have an aftermarket alarm fitted?

Fricken awesome! Was the brown relay, could see it was corroded. Drivers window was down one night and that side got a bit wet. Gathering that's where the problem came from. Thanks heaps guys. Saved me $!! Really appreciate the help 😀😆
