Hello,

I am Peder from Sweden. I have a 1999 Nissan Patrol Y61 (GU II, or GR II as we call them). I am about to put HDJ80 engine into my Patrol, to replace the tired 2,8 TD engine. In doing so I also need to replace the gearbox, as the one installed is to weak.

So, I am looking for a used FS5R50B gearbox - and of course I would prefer the upgraded one. The uppgraded box is supposed to be installed in cars produced from 2004/08 and onwards.

But how do I enusre that I in fact buy an upgraded one, if the gearbox is already dismantled from the original car (many car breakers I talk to can't provide me with the identity of the original car...)?

There is supposed to be a code stamped into the underside of the gearbox, but I can't find anywhere on line how to interpret this/these code(s).

One car breaker has found the following codes stamped into the gearbox:

80505, 82101, VB000, VB001

But these codes mean nothing to me.

Does anyone here know if these codes are of use? Or do you have any other idea of how I can make sure I buy an upgraded gearbox, without having the identity of the original car?

Thanks in advance

Peder
