Aaahhh, well, if no eyed Deer won't help relieve the frustration then I am at a loss for any more helpful suggestions.

After getting the exhaust done, I am still getting a lungful of fumes when accelerating hard. Rear doors are sealing properly.
Maybe you should look for a blind, legless, gonadless deer, Kallen

My patrol frustrated me today and yesterday in a good way....Because, it once again flipped it's mood and is absolutely flying... 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears are neck-snapping ... Even a tickle at the foot and it's a rocket. And I have not altered anything. In contrast to the bad side of mood swings where the pedal has that spongy, lagging feeling...
So I'm frustrated because I don't know what makes it tick, and I've ran out of places to look at what's making it do so.

Got a bit excited today Local Opposite Lock has a 50% off all floor stock sale on until the weekend. Phoned up & asked if they had a front elocker for a GU/GQ. “I think you might be in luck” came the reply “I’ll just go & check” . I waited on tenterhooks. He came back with “Sorry mate, it’s for a Navara D40”.
Oh well.
I asked about the cost if they got one in. $13something with club discount & $650 to fit.
Won’t happen for a while.
Out of interest does $650 for fitting sound in the ballpark? Sounds a lot to me.

Wouldn't be surprised Cuppa, there is a lot to pull apart and reassemble in a front diff. Then the wiring. And bearings / seals etc.
Don't know what mine cost a heaps of other stuff was done at the same time, cost me $4500 faaark I didn't know what hit me. Nissans not been back there come to think of it!
PS bad luck about the wrong locker, someone is going to get lucky!

I installed my own cuppa, wasn't to hard and I had never done one before. The wiring you'll have no dramas with and there is decent instructions on the actual fitting. If your just swapping centres there isn't too much to it. Check and adjust backlash is about the most technical bit (need a dial gauge). I changed the carrier bearings as you actually need a different bearing for the elocker anyway. If your pulling it down and playing with the pinion you'll get a bit more fiddly.
In saying that I could easily see someone charging $650 for it, drive in drive out. If you take your centre out and drop it off it should save you some labour costs. It is quite heavy and 'fun' to remove and install the centre on your own under the car though.

Yeah, I thought about going for a look but decided I better stay away!
That is the standard install price. When I rang around they might take 50-100 off. I got front and rear diffs swapped, front locker install including carrier bearings and oil for $450. He ran wiring to the back of firewall and left it for me to pull through and pull dash apart for switch, etc.
Rear diff had a small leak at the bottom where it mounted up. He fixed it without issue. Offered to give him something for his time and he refused.
But, not sure if it matters, reading Elocker doco afterwards, they will only do warranty with their selected installers

The bloke I used said they had a bit of trouble and were on the phone to Harrops a few times. They hadn't done one before. Don't know what their issues were though.

The guy I used was the local "Driveline Services" guy. Seems he mostly focuses on diffs and gearboxes. He had done them before. I initially found him through google, but turned out he had done some for local club members, but I didn't know that until later. It was just in the fine print that they will not give it warranty now, because not one of their guys. I was happy with his work, but it was a small risk I ended up taking. I thought in reality he probably had better experience than the local Opposite Lock where I bought it, which is just a new franchise for the local Holden dealer.
