View Full Version : Dyno tune in Vic??

Hi all,

I have an 06 GU 4.2 ute. I have done a 3" turbo back exhaust, blocked the EGR, had a Garrett turbo upgrade done and am now looking for someone to dyno tune it for best results. What I don't want is someone to screw the fuel up, say "she's good mate" and then I melt a piston crown a thousand miles from home. I have EGR and boost gauges about to go in.

Can anyone recommend a good dyno place? I'm in Northern VIC but can get to Melbourne for it, northern suburbs preferred.

Also, is it worth replacing injectors before tune, it has 120,000km on it.

Cheers

JPC in the North (Thomastown) or 4x4 Obsession out to the west are your best bets.

Diesel-Tec in Lilydale is who I have used and will use again.

They have the best reputation, cost a little more but I believe you get a much better job done.

Not a fan of Diesel-Tec. Took my old Hilux there years ago when it was running like a dog. Got it back, was running even worse than when I took it there. Took it back to them, their answer was 'thats just how they run', didn't want a bar of me.

Ended up pulling things apart myself and learning a lot on the way. Turned out the timing belt had skipped a tooth and timing was all out. Fixed that, and she ran nicely again.

That was five years ago now though, maybe things have changed.

Yeah bummer, shame you had a bad experience with them, I found them to be excellent.

+2 For JPC in Thomastown.
They tuned my CRD with a chip and it ran like a dream afterwards. Have yet to hear a bad thing about them. Mark over there knows his stuff.

I think you will find Obsession take your 4x4 to JPC, I doubt Brett has a dyno on site
When you find where your taking it ring and ask if fitting injectors is worth while

Hey mate yeah I'm a huge fan of diesel Tec and I know there were issues around that time I can't go into but yeah I'm waving their flag and yes things have changed.

Thanks for the replies guys, JPC are about 5 minutes from my parents place so will be a good option, gives me somewhere to wait. Unless they let me hang around and video a few pulls.

Does anyone know if they work Saturday mornings?

Some confusion on my part. I’m sure I posted in this thread yesterday (recommending Chris Dalton in Geelong) but my post isn’t here now. Certainly not an issue of great importance, but can anyone explain?

No mate they do not work on the weekends... if you dont hassle them they will let you watch and video the runs, just wait until they are set up and ready before sticking your nose in.

Sounds like you're over fueling, do you have high EGT's
My 3ltr blows no smoke that I can see

All I can is that the guys at JPC are amazing. The patrol started at 80 rwkw and ended up at just over 120 rwkw. That's keeping it at safe exhaust temps and blowing no smoke (unless you let it lug under the turbo). It's a different vehicle to drive, I can overtake now, and go up hills at 100 in 5th. And tow basically anything. Very happy, thanks for all the advice.
