Saw this today.
Looks like a 60l caravan water tank with a electric pump on the side.

The only thing that would bother me is the idea of having water sloshing about on my roof rack as it is so far above the centre of gravity. If off road and on large side angles this might be a bit hard to control.

Way too top heavy
thats a Dolium flat tank designed to go in the cargo area
Dolium make tanks in all shapes and sizes to fit anywhere

Might suit his needs but not what I would do.

I like it , saw the same on the weekend , the only thing I have on my rack is a couple of surfboards a awning and a shovel , for up the beaches and general touring why not , and after a day in the sun it would be a bloody good hot shower !

That’s 60 to 80 kilos up top, & with a little of it used so that it can move thats enough to create quite a force. Easily the difference between a roll over or staying upright when you drop a wheel into that downhill rut I reckon. Aside from that It’d get pretty hot in the sun (maybe that’s it’s purpose?).

Agree with others - not the greatest of ideas.

Not for the high country but maybe getting to the beach it would be ok but
not Ideal if if you need swerve thats 60kg slooshing around. Make sure its empty for the trip home.

Dunno... be lucky if that tank was more than 40 litres, it's not even as wide as the rear window and can't see how long but less than 1000 if it is sitting neatly inside the rack.

Roofy's bottler of a job is def waaay bigger

He will be using it as a solar shower and washing water I reckon... or a pre-heater for his cuppa tea.
The water would be red hot after sitting in a black tank all day

Agree that 1/2 full it would slosh around assuming no internal baffles (all 3 roto moulded tanks on my van are baffled) but if he keeps it pressed up after a shower or whatever then it wouldn't be much of an issue

I have a dolium water tank in a wedge shape behind the back of the cargo barrier, 50 litres and gravity feed out the rear drivers side door with a tap. Fits securely and keeps the weight low. Worked brilliantly last weekend, even 1/2 full on decent angles. When I can finally figure out how to make it work I'll have to post photos.

I agree with others above in that I would definitely not want that weight up high.

I had a BOAB 40 litre tank that fit into the foot-well of the patrol. After about 10 litres was used you could feel the weight transfer as it sloshed around on rough tracks. It was good on desert trips but not the mountains. On the roof rack is just asking fro trouble.

My main water tanks sits on the floor of the canopy. It’s a baffled tank (165 litres) & seems ok there. Custom made to my specifications for $320. by Mick at Award Tanks (http://www.awardtanks.com.au/products.html). (Good bloke, good tank).
If I’d had the means of lifting the canopy off the chassis rails at the time I’d have fitted a water tank underneath like Macca though.
