Guys, need help in the middle of nowhere (NT).

Just crossed NT border - road has been closed for a few days due to water on road.
Today was the first day it was open to 4x4 only - water only came up to the base of the truck. 20km after water we pulled up into a rest area and topped up fuel with a jerry can. 10km down the road - oil light comes on, so we pull up immediately, let engine sit for a while, checked oil - it was fine. Got under truck, couldnt see any oil leak. Continued down the road for another 30km, oil pressure and temperature all good. Oil light continued to stay on. Truck starts first go and runs fine, total mystery to me and the manual as it doesnt give me any troubleshooting tips.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Adam

Do the oil sensors work the same as on mine? i.e. When my sensor went, everything was fine, including pressure, but the light was stuck on - was straight after a water crossing also - new oil sender unit and bob was my uncle!

If not, then others will no doubt assist mate. Hang tight.

Let us know exactly which warning light came on. Seems strange the oil pressure and temp is OK

I think Scott's on the right track here, try a new pressure sender first.

Being where you are you don't have a lot of choices eh? (We limped across that border & made it to 60k's west of Katherine before giving in & calling a tow truck in our Nissan Bus - new motor in Katherine - 7 weeks & big biccies - so I have an idea of how you might be feeling. Carry on fingers crossed or pay a large recovery bill that could be unnecessary? If it were me .........things are pointing to the pressure sender, it fit's the water scenario & you have a motor that shows all the other signs of being healthy. If it were me I'd be crossing my fingers.
Whilst in the area, you've probably already gone past Keep River NP, but if not, it's well worth a visit. A bit similar to the Bungles but with easier access. Good for one or two nights.

I spoke with Adam (Redman) this morning. He has made it to Tennant Ck. But now the issue has escalated. The light that is on is the oil can light just to cover the light issue. But apart from the light he now has high oil pressure (top end of the pressure gauge). He spoke to an old bloke, who suggested it could be the oil filters. Has any one heard of an issue with Ryco oil filters. Adam also said that he started the car this morning and the oil light did not come on until the pressure went past normal.

To top it off his partners laptop is now playing up and I am now the correspondence for him

if the same sender in the block is talking to the warning lamp, and the pressure guage, not sure you could get useful info from either?

It's the same sender in the TB42e that I have, but wasn't sure on a diesel ... fingers firmly crossed for him that is the case.
