hey all,
im currently thinking about upgradeing my zook to a patrol now that im married and a kid on the way. the problem is i dont know anything about patrols. the only things i know is i dont wanna pay over 10k, prefer the square shape over the new rounder shape and the more stock the better as i like to do my own builds.
is there any particular models/engines to look out for or to avoid? any info would be much appreciated
thanks, NOD

Hi Nod and welcome to the forum. Plenty of help and advice here. You might want to post in introductions first though mate.

Gday mate, welcome aboard. The square shape is the GQ. Most say the pick is the TD42 diesel, most came out n/a, a few lucky ones had turbos and autos dealer fitted. Ive got one with an aftermarket turbo, not the quickest of things around but they're nigh on bullet proof.
The TB42E petrol efi is also a great engine, a fair bit quicker than the td42 but boy they can be thirsty. Ive also got one of these in auto guise and absolutely love it...... well until the head went that is. Me personally, I'd stay clear of one with dual fuel, try and get one in unmolested form.

As far as the RB30 petrol and RD28T go, I can't really comment.
