I've got the Rugged Terrains and they're great on sand and fairly quiet on the road. I reckon they need a little bit more bite in the mud so the tread you are asking about may be the way to go.

So they are. Well.
So if blokes are getting 100+ thou k's out of the km2's, these would nearly be a buy once in a life time tyre???

they look a very good tyre for an all terrain, had a look last Thursday, bigger gaps between the tread lines, meaning they look like a chunkier tyre.if I hadn't been running 697's and just bought some new ones recently I would get these ones.

Thanks for the review. A couple of the other options I was given for AT's almost looked like road tyres. The tread pattern on these actually appeal to me, not that I do much off road work. lol.

I ran BFG all terrains on my other4x4 and gave them to my BIL at 110K he drove for another 25K
Great tyre do tend to tram track a bit and dont like being aired down, great for secondary roads etc
Highly recommend as an allrounder I had 285s x 16s

With the reputation of the km2 tyres high I'd say they'd be the pick.
I'm not overly happy with the bravo 980's. There a great tyre in mud and not to noisy but have scalloped out and wearing quick.
I'll be buying better next time.

BFG all terrains are great and long wearing and surprisingly a fair bit of grip too.
I run Cooper ATRs for hwy duties very quiet useless off road and gauranteed for 90k.
You wont be disappointed with the BFGs

Have a look at the pro comp all terrains you can get them in an extreme all terrain. I have done well over 140k in them and the still have at least 30% in them. I found them really good in the sand, quite on road, not hugely great in mud and sloppy wet hill climbs, but in the dry pretty good.

I was dissapointed with my old BFG A/Ts............ when they got to about 5mm tread remaining, they were an absolute bitch in the rain....... not a lot of grip at all on the road, going round roundabouts etc.

my very first set of BFG's, I ran down to the bar marks...... approx 110k out of them, yes a "bit" skitterish on the road by then, but I had to wait until I got paid to buy new ones (monthly pay sucks balls)

I think you'll find that with a few tyres.
That depth is pretty close to "used" in the manufactures eyes, thus the wear marks.
My duellers were the same. But had got my $$$ worth from them.

I've got a set on the front of my ute Grunter and so far doing well only had them 6 months but no issues, they still look new. They haven't seen much off road action either but when I have been they have been great.

My dads has these on his navara. He's done 30000km on them now and reckons he won't get anything else. Loves them. I priced a set for the paj and they wanted $550 for 285/65r18 but rich for me so I ll pass this time can't afford 3G on tires just yet.
This is bunbury prices though
