Hi all, picked up a 2011 GU7 a few days ago and really happy with it. It's only done 45,000km and never (really!!) been off road. It's got the factory bull bar and twin spots. Prior to this I owned a Range Rover Sport which was a great car but one that I was never really happy taking off road. Before the RRS I had a JK Jeep Wrangler (2 door) which I really enjoyed. Looking forward to doing some proper 4WDing now.

Over time I'll probably lift it (2 inch), add slightly bigger tyres (not sure how big yet - need some advice about that one), rock rails and roof rack. Probably also a cargo barrier (handy for camping and the dogs).

I enjoy driving it as it feels like a proper truck (the RRS was also great to drive but in a different way) and gives me confidence to go off road. I know I'm not going to hurt it.

Anyway, looking forward to chatting with everyone and trying to learn as much as I can about Patrols. I live in Port Macquarie !! (anyone close by?)

Tyre wise the biggest allowed is now a 285 or 305 and a 2" lift that'll get you most places on a map.

Yep .. great car and really good off road but I found I was braking too many things on it (lots of plastic stuff at the front and rear and door sills that I was scratching, tearing off, bending). Nothing out there as yet that you can buy to protect them. Was told so many times that "nobody takes them off road, so nobody is bothering to make anything for them".

A guy who modded a RR to comp spec went for a drive in a RRS and it went better and further than his comp rig.
Pick of the bunch would be the bi turbo V6 diesel but the SCV8 I wouldnt knock back.
The centre video unit is a split sceen system , the Mrs can watch a DVD and you watch the GPS on the same screen
Plus they have the hidden bonnet technology, way too much info lol lol lol
