I'd be leaving the 4.6s in if you are running 35s. Or chase some 4.3s for touring.

I have 4.6s in my GQ with a TD42Ti and have 3.9s in my GUIV TD42Ti and would be keen to fit some 4.3s to that.

Yes Kat they will bolt straight in.

yes i have the 35's as well and the 4.3 are good, 33's make it rev harder, its really a compromise no matter what ratio you run.

Yea totally agree with YA mr mud runner I have 35" and this ratio dose perfect with speedo readings 110 is 110 on muitipule forms of GPS The gear ratio saves clutch on tow or crawling rear has 12 plates on LSD It's the only model that came out with this set up of any center in nissan patrol range well so I've been told most are 6 if not mistaken tell the truth if I didn't do my pump injector and turbo upgrade I would keep them on it launches and drives in traffic with ease even when towing a Parado on car trailer still overtaking cars at 130 that's when I was only running original 22 psi diesel gas setup and large bar n plate inter cooler did this with Ease although reving buy this stage but who towe's at 130 with 2 ton trailer and car on back lol even with just trailer on drive to dongra from perth 270 Klm trailer 2100 kg on weigh bridge only used 1/3 tank sitting av speed of 120-130 at one two am in morning nothing br me and skippy on the road ha ha the engine seems to be at free rev absolutely not labouring even on big hills against a 50 Klm wind and very happy on fuel so id keep them if I had less power for starters 1st gear seems irrelivent now with upgrades if I towed or rock crawled a lot or a law abiding citizen that did 110 max and not have to drive behind a veil of darkness to travel due to my inability to level out my foot then I wouldn't sell them at all but each to there own its something you need to asses in the pros and cons in the pro dominant use of the vehicle if YA want in between by all means but I'm just going nice H DUTY Clutch and 411 cos 1st gear is a waste otherwise for me anyway

Lol

It will be a Slug just on boost at 100 and I reckon when your towing you will want to slash your wrists for swapping them out!

Jeezus... if you get some cash for the centres invest in a keyboard with punctuation characters.
I bailed out of that at the first "YA"

Sounds like the drive line is setup perfectly as is.
An if your on 35's full time then why change.

By going to a 4.1 diff your fuel efficiency will go to shit, your engine temps threw the roof due to working harder, huge power losses at rear wheels.

Yea you have to start using first gear but who the fark cares if you don't need it. It's there as backup if you do.

IMO stick with the 4.6's, or just drop to 4.3's.
4.1's you will be kicking yourself.

It will prob have more boost at 100 with lower gears.

I run 35" km2's permanently without any of that being effected. Fuel economy hasn't really changed, it certainly doesn't overheat. The engine still produces the same amount of horsepower.

With the slightly different box ratios between gu and GQ I would say 4.3's would be a much better option but 4.1's won't be that bad.

Really? Running the lower gears will drop the cruising revs down lower, running 3.9s and 35 I cruise just on 2000rpm and the 4.6s is 400 or so higher and into more responsive boost IMO. I just reckon it will feel sluggish. Mine certainly does, especially when towing. He will also loose some quality engine braking too. It will be drivable for sure but the 4.6s would be far better with the 35s I reckon.

Yeah really. Lower revs will mean slightly more load which will equal a slightly higher boost level. The response you are talking about is at around 2400rpm which is at the start of no load speed for our td42 so will always accelerate better from here. Cruising at 2000rpm puts you nearly right at the max torque of the engine.
