Gu airry boost, dawes valve help?

New to this forum,

I have a 08 3L turbodiesel,
And bypassed the factory controller to install a dawes and needle valve to get rid of erratic boost.

It seems to be installed correctly, does the job. But the boost now sounds very airry and loose, compared to the previous tighter high whistle.


Also can't seem to get any difference in adjusting my needle valve, connected from resonator box then teed into dawes valve.

No egr block installed

If its working then why worry about the sound? Your turbo isn't working as hard as before and the spool up was so erratic so this is probably the reason. As for the needle valve adjustment. Assuming it is plumbed in correctly, squeeze the hose after the needle valve on the Dawes side. Does the rod on the VNT move? If so, and the rod doesn't move when you adjust the needle valve, I would say that needle valve is no good. Those $5 needle valves rarely work anyhow. If you have a hose and fitting outlet nearby, they would have something better for sure. But check out what I asked first to be sure.
Also, block the EGR, it will help even more with your turbo and engine performance, not to mention engine longevity.

Hi i have 2011 3ltr turbo diesel not fitted with any mods yet. Its just out of warranty, what are the general recommendation. Do you need to install a 3inch exhaust once you have put in dawes value kit.

I think the 2.75 works better and is more suited to the CRD,
I've had no problems at all with my 3" system and straight through Cat

Hi all, getting mixed answers to either completely block off egr valve or to drill small hole in it to stop getting fault codes up from it. Any thoughts as ive been told with the 2011model it not to completely block it off..
