Hi All,

Considering a 2" lift for a fairly stock GU 01 Patrol Wagon.
I only have a Alloy bull bar and will be looking into the future to purchase a steel bull bar and winch down the track, after the lift

Is it safe to purchase a 2"lift kit ready for a Steel bullbar and winch even though i wont have it for another year.
Or do i need to purchase a standard 2"lift kit due to no weight on the front end?

If i had to purchase a steel bull bar and winch ready lift kit, Would there be any issues until the winch is purchased?

Thoughts?

The only issue you will run into is that your ride will be quite firm until you get the weight on the front end.
My GQ drives a bit like a go cart when it's unladen but once I add the gear I take away with me plus fuel etc. it rides perfectly.
I did the lift and whatnot before a whole lot of other stuff and the ride was a bit harsh but I lived with it until I got all my bar work etc.
Given a 2 inch lift is relatively easy to do in the driveway, I guess there's no reason why you couldn't do shocks and springs now and change the springs over to a higher spring rate down the track when yo have the bar and winch on.

Welcome mate.
Yea as Drew said nothing wrong with going a bit heavier to suit future mods.
I ran had springs for a few years and only just finally bolted the steel bar and winch on.
It'll just be rougher.

Thanks guys, Much appreciated.

In terms of brand?? Not really fussed on brand OME and tough dog.

My mechanic has always used peddars and never had a issue.
Thoughts on them?
Im not going to be doing HC 4wding etc
