GU 2008 3l fuel filter

My 2008 3liter has a fuel filter ( Delphi 296 # HDF296 ) fitted in before the factory fuel filter. Is this a good setup? Apparently this filter should not be used on CRD?? Should it be removed or replaced and if so with what type?

Yes, it has a filter Element and a glass bowl below

According to this seller not for use with any CRD.
I couldnt tell you why though

Sounds like an aftermarket water separator. I really couldn't see the harm in it.
