Hey all I've aquired a set of near new tough dog 2" progressive springs. I'm getting rig set up for tours so wanted it to be a little softer ride when it's only running the usual mods and to handle the weight when loaded upon a trip. Flex wasn't a majour issue just wanted a little extra clearance while keeping it legal. Has anyone had progressive springs before and are adjustable shocks worth while so as dampening can be adjusted when loaded and unloaded or should I save a bit of coin for something else is which and just go with foam cells non adjustable shocks. Cheers all.

I can't comment on the adjustable shocks, but dad is running a 2" tough dig lift in his gu, as well as airbags. Empty it still has quite a good ride, and loaded it still handles quite nicely (for a patrol)
There are, however mixed reviews on tough dog, with a few reporting failures of shocks.
I personally would run them.
Oh and they won 4wd action shock comparo aswell, so make of that what you will!
Cheers

I have just ordered a 2 inch TD lift kit, and I wasn't aware of progressive TD springs? are they all progressive or are they a TD option??

No bowerbird they have to be asked for specifically as do Flexi or heavy duty spring rates hope this puts you at ease mate.

order your coils for the weights you expect to carry,
a decent 4x4 shop will allow for dual batteries, bullbar and winch.
and if towing give you a slight down hill look. Air bags or bellows
in the back will help level it out if you over load at any time

Cool thanks all for your input they are 250 kg progressive I'll be sticking with the genuine alloy bar but will have winch fitted and rear bar work done. Will also be installing draw. Duel spare tyre carriers so might look into air bags if needed cheers all.

Last thing you want is a suspension set up that will need upgrading if you fit say a dual battery system
Even a rear swing away bar will effect it factor in that and tell who ever your plans.
It may be firm until all your mods are fitted, but tell them first other wise its just wasted money

Thanks three dogs I have duel batteries and after another look there actually 300kg not 250 as I thought I'll just have to add the mods I need most and watch the wait. If I'm starting to get to heavy. I got them for a song so couldn't knock them back they have done about 2000 Klm I paid 80 bucks a corner off old mate. He got his missus pregnant so his build was put on hold for a few years he did say they were extremely stiff but he didn't even have a bull bar fitted.

so now I sit wonderring if I should be ordering the progressive or linear TD springs , anyone got experience with both? I don't want anything heavier or stiffer than std. I don't have bars etc etc, do they make progressive with no extra weight? or are the lightest progessives +250?

Just order standard rate springs if it's standard rate your after but like the standard spings on your vehicle they are limited to how they perform. Depending on what your going to be useing it for i.e touring, playing on the tracks etc or just driving the family around then use this to decide on what you will purchase. Firstly the idea behind progressive is a bit of both worlds. This means when your driving the kids to school or doing the shopping unladen they are soft and comfy not hard like constant load springs then when you load the vehicle up they sag until the coils get to the point when the soft part of the coils compress then the change in spring rate take the wait and act like a constant load spring would in a permanently loaded tourer. Secondly If it's a soft ride with flex your after for articulation for better off-road ability order Flexi coils but these don't handle the wait as well as there designed to compress and expand easy to give better articulation. Lastly If it's just a large family car for shuttling purposes around town don't bother spending any money and stay with the standard setup as it's pointless getting a lift as you need to adjust caster etc and it's a waste of cash as your standard set up will serve you well and do the little bit of off off roading these vehicles usually encounter. So decide what your after then call your preferred supplier discuss it with them and happy travels.
