I've pulled my micro SD card out of my busted phone(smashed screen) to put it in my new one and now the phones saying its blank! I've got over 3 years of photos on it that are not backed up! any help would be great.
when I put it in my new phone it can see the photos but cant register any image just that they are there for about 5 seconds then it hides them, so I think they are still there.
when plugged into the pc it wont recognize that a SD card is plugged in.
both phones keep asking me if I wish to format it, I've said no every time.
I am hoping one of you have had luck with this kind of thing

There is a heap of free card recovery software on the net . Download one of the programs and recover. You might loose a few but majority will be fine. I've done it a few times now.
EDIT: here's some paid and free programs with reviews http://www.computerworld.com/article/2501547/data-storage-solutions-6-data-recovery-tools-for-sd-cards-usb-drives-and-more.html

Not much help, but this is exactly why everybody should back their photographs up to a spare hard drive on a regular basis.
I have some recovery stuff somewhere, i`ll dig it out and pm you a serial number to activate it bud.

that would be awesome, I've tried 2 free ones(free to search but to copy the files you need to purchase it) and about to try the third but I think most are targeted at a sd card for a camera that can just take the photos off it not search through files looking for the photos.

Have you tried taking the card out of the phone, putting it into a standard SD card adapter and connecting that, via a card reader, direct to the pc?
Samsung shoot normal jpegs, so no reason why that would not work.

I dare say when you inserted it into your new phone the files have became corrupt, sounds like a common problem on the Samsung galaxy s4 :(

they were working when I took it out of the s4 and then not working when I put it in the s5.
years ago I had a s3 and put it in a s4 with no problems. stupid technology
the problem i'm having atm with these recovery programs is they want you to select what drive to search in but as its not recognising the SD card so I cant select it

It's very odd that the pc doesn't see your phone, I dare say that more damage has occurred than just the the smashed screen. Quite possibly damaging the electronics and frying the sd card.

hmmmm curious, so you can still see the phones screen and only the glass is broken. Did you unmount the the sd card before removing?

Yea only the glass is broken not the screen as such, no I just popped the battery out and pulled the sd and sim out like I usually do

some apps use the SDcard, so if an app was accessing the card while the card was being taken out without being unmounted first, then that will more than likely corrupt files. Not usually a problem if unmounted first, well it hasnt been for me

there's an option on the phone where you can tell it to either charge from the pc when usb cable is connected or use as a data device........... or something along those lines

ouch. thats alot of pics mate, just as a rule you should never rely on removable media IE SD cards as a storage medium, they are too easily damaged. my mate who runs a photography business sees this all too often. he uses SanDisk RescuePRO to recover files for customers. its a paid for program but you get what you pay for

If you want to I can have a look at it but you'll have to send it to me or I can have a quick look if you send me a remote desktop connection to your pc.
How tech savvy are you?

No worries whatever suits you. A company should be able to do it fairly cheaply I'd think
