Hi All,

I've just completed a mirror replacement for my 1994 GQ DX Patrol. Hopefully the info below can help someone! Please reply if you have any questions.

Parts used -

- Toyota Mirror Assembly (genuine), Outer, Right Hand - Part No 87910-60142 (price paid - $44, eBay (got lucky with this one))

- Toyota Mirror Assembly, Outer (genuine), Left Hand - Part No 87940-60273 (price paid - $174, eBay)

Note - these are convex (2007+ mirrors).

If searching eBay etc for these parts, try any of these keywords -

87910-60142
87940-60273
LANDCRUISER VDJ LH DOOR MIRROR GENUINE TOYOTA
LH Mirror Landcruiser VDJ78, VDJ79, VDJ76
RH Mirror Landcruiser VDJ78, VDJ79, VDJ76

Tools used -

- Large phillips screwdriver

Modifications Required -

- NONE.

Steps -

Remove existing mirror - two phillips head screws (keep, re-use on next step)

Install new mirror - two phillips head screws

Personal rating of Modification -

10/10 - The fit is extremely close, see 2nd image. Note, no modifications are required at all. The view compared to standard is improved 100x over. In my opinion these also look really good/standard on a GQ.

Next best thing to Safari Mirrors, but they look much better! I wasn't lucky enough to get one at such a cheap price, but still worth it.
It makes a huge difference to be able to see whats out the back lol

It's a great mod, thanks to Warehouseno27 for posting it on Patrol4x4 and now here.

I did this recently myself as posted in my Patrol thread (http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forums/showthread.php?31152-Majestic-s-TD42-89-GQ&p=586422).

Could the same mirrors be fitted using the Nissan mirror extenders, I need to use them to see past the pod which is wider than the cab. Mirror bolted from underneath.

I got the glass replaced recently in one of my wing mirrors from the local glazier and when pricing new ones, the original Nissan extenders are cheap as chips. From memory, less than $20 each.

Hi Everyone,

I just bought myself a 94 GQ. My third Patrol, but it's been 13 years since my last one. The other two were MQs, and had nice big mirrors.
Before driving from Sydney to Melbourne to pick it up, I searched for bigger mirrors and found this forum. It made me laugh that Toyota mirrors fit so well on a Nissan.

After picking up the Patrol in Melbourne, I was only one hour closer to Sydney when I pulled over and ordered my Toyota mirrors.
That was Monday. Today is Saturday and I fitted them this morning. They are awesome. I just want to thank everyone for sharing this information.

While I don't really get into the whole Nissan vs Toyota thing, I never would have thought that Land Cruiser mirrors would fit perfectly on a Patrol.

Thanks Everyone!
Adam

As soon as I figure out how to do that, I'll get right on it.
Then I'll post some pics with the new mirrors on it. Just to keep it on topic.

Um... OK.

It seems like I just accidentally figured out how to do that.

Not really sure how that happened, but there you go.

That is the picture that stopped me in my tracks when I was "just looking" on carsales. I couldn't believe how good it looked. One frantic week later and it was parked at my place.

I'll get some shots with the new mirrors on it and add to the gallery.

Mate that GQ looks absolutely mint ,not sure what you paid but has to be worth it for the body alone , pity you didn't have electric mirrors because the Silverado (clearview) mirrors are a reasonably easy mod for about $160 .

I looked for Clearview mirrors first, but they don't make them for the GQ. Then I found this forum and I like these mirrors better. Clearview mirrors are really good, but they look a bit too big on almost every car, and I think sometimes they would get in the way.
I still would have bought them if they were available. I think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
But I'm glad I have these. I think they suit the car really well, and are a significant improvement over the originals in terms of visibility.
Thank you to the folks on this forum for helping me to find the first mod for my new car.

You need to have electric mirrors to do the Silverado mirror mod so unless you want to replace your doors stick with the Tojo mirrors , no clearview don't make one for the GQ which is why a couple of us have bought Silverado mirrors and converted them to fit a GQ .
The bigger mirrors do have a downside in that the snorkel gets in the way of it folding flat if you hit the mirror on a tree .
