hi there,

my wife and I had a breakdown on the hume highway two days ago. It looks like my crank angle sensor is broken as the rpm meter did strange things and the engine stutters like hell.
I ordered a new crank angle sensor but currently I am stuck with getting out the distributor?! I was not able to get any service manual covering that topic (tb42e efi engine). In the manual I got it sounds quite easy... mark positions, remove hold down bolt, lift distributor straight out... but it does only move about 1mm up and is stuck than. Any ideas?

thank you so much!

There is an o-ring around the base of the distributor. May just need to pull harder. There isn't anything else holding it down. Make sure your looms are disconnected. The rotor will rotate as you remove the distributor, this is because of the helicoil cut gears.

for sure I am no arnold - but this distributor does only move clock and anticlock wise - not up...
I can feel it moving up a very little (half a mm) but no more. there must be something I missed...

Interesting. Glad you got it out. How did you go with changing the sensor?
