I've been through a few sets over a few years and have kept away from big name brands, i'm currently running a set of Kenda Klever MT in 285/75/16, picked them up for $220 a corner. I've been out up Watagans a few times to test them out and have only lowered tyre pressures to 26psi, other times around 28psi and they have performed better than any other tyre i've had on in the last 6yrs. Not very noisy on roads but offroad these things just shine, I used to love Kumho KL71's but these Kendas have really impressed me, worth looking at mate if you don't want to spend big money.

Like any tyre thread you will get heaps of 'for' and 'against', a heap of variables on who uses what on what terrain .
Kuhmo's were the worst tyre I ever had on a 4X over here in WA.
They have less tread depth than most others off the shelf, wore the first 50% quickly and were very poor off road (again only did WA work with them).
I tried them because of other good reports and have no doubt they must be Ok in other parts of Aus.
Bridgies, Procomp and Coopers have all performed brilliant for me (work or play) and currentlyour work fleet run Bridgies and Coopers on the and I have Hankook MT's on my Cab Chassis which I am very happy with.

There similar to prices I got here in mount gambier. You vic boys got a bloody good price for those km's...
The gg at2 tyres are the same tread as the bfg at's, which are the same as the maxis 761's I think.
I run the maxis 980's. Similar pattern again but wider gaps on the outter blocks.

the problem we have in WA (Wait awhile) is that they charge more, because of freight ex east........
and also, if you dont like the prices...... what are you going to do?
quick trip over to Vic or NSW??? 3700kms there and then back again.......
right...

Most shops would be willing to ship them over or you organise transport. Even if it costs you a $100 you are still on top. :)
Unfortunatelly you still got to get them fitted and balanced:(

Shopping locally here in Ballarat JAX were the cheapest by far. They started straight up with a cheap price, which I really like. I think JAX in Geelong offered me $5 less or something and the guy in Ballarat told me, with a smile on his face, the guy in Geelong was a pain and of course they would match it. I think Apollofish went to JAX in Geelong as they were cheaper and enough to be worth the drive across.
Bob Jane were a joke, they wanted money like you mentioned and definitely gave me the impression they would start with trying to rip you off and then work backwards. I just backed out and never intend to go there again.
KM2s get a good wrap from everyone. I bought Hankook Dynapro MT RT03 because they seemed to have reasonable writeups and I got 5 for less than 4 KM2s. Happy with them so far, but I haven't had them long enough to be sure (about 6000km)

Yeh the Hankook Dynapro MT are a good tyre, good wear on them, only let me down in wet clay and mud, wouldn't clear unless you gave it a boot full.
Careful with cheaper name brand tyres, a lot are parallel imports and run different compounds, have no warranty and have bad tyre wear, know what you're buying.

Bought BFG KM2 `bout 6 years ago and have done nearly 40 thou on them. Only bought them, because they had a promo on them. If you bought 4 tyres, you`d get a Bushranger air compressor and I needed 5 new tyres and I needed a compressor to pump them up. So it was a reasonable deal and saved me looking for a compressor else where. Glad that I`ve bought the KM2`s.

I have not long ago put 35" km2's on my patrol. I used prices from don Cornell's to help get prices down with local mobs and ended up paying $400 ea for 315/75/16 fitted and balanced.
My last set of km2's I got 100k out with regular rotation but they were only balanced twice in their life.
Next time round I think I will try some nitto mud grapplers.

I've got Dick Cepek FC-IIs on my TD42 and Mickey Thompson ATZs on my tb42. The DCs are definitely quieter on road and handle the rocks and loose stuff pretty well but the ATZs are the better choice for me for off road.
Yeah I know they're not muddies but I've no experience with muddies yet

Mickey T's running $200 cash back at the moment. I have Coopers STT done 30k and they are looking very how's ya going! Lot of rocks where I am but still not happy. I got them off fleabag in a shop,in Sydney that direct imports and have found out since they would not have made the grade to import to a dealer. Cheap at the time but not now I will have to replace. Only had them for 18months. Live and learn.

Shame to see negative feedback on the fedral couragias, I fitted a set to my bus a few thousand k's ago (285/75/R16) and they have been great. Originally had mickey MTZ's but they had worn really badly and were louder than the federals.
Came down old greenhill rd (very steep with switchback turns) and no hairy moments and have been down the coorong a few times and at 15/18 PSI nothing stops you. Mine were $240 per tyre and 35's are $275 so good value for money.
Alternatively I Would highly recommend checking out tyresales.com they have good prices on there and once you choose and purchase your tyre you can select an outlet to have them fitted, when I was on there cooper muddies were $330 fitted but this will depend on tyre size and what's available. Good luck with your purchase as the mind boggles at the endless possibilities! Potsy.

I find they are terrible in muddy/slushy conditions. I did cross the simpson on them but they are chewed up and chopped out after about 20,000. I drive all sorts of conditions. Mud, sand rock and about 70% bitumen. I followed another car with Mickey thompsons and they really cleaned the tread as it went along. I find the mud stars dont do that. BFG or Mickeys for me, next.
