hi all

I am new to the 4x4 family i have a 1999 Nissan patrol GU automatic... but would like to know abit about it... There is a switch on the centre console which indicates A/T, when you flick it up its indicates POWER, and when you flick it down it says HOLD..
Switch looks like this eg

power
A/T
hold

Can anyone help me what this switch is for and how is it use for ..?

Thanks

claude

Hi Claude, welcome to the forum.
Switch is for the auto trans.

POWER: Fast acceleration or uphill driving. The shifting speeds are higher than when in AUTO mode. Less economical.
A/T: selects the economy or power shift pattern depending on how fast you press the accelerator.
HOLD: Used for starting on slippery roads. Stays in 2nd gear up, won't use first gear.

Usually in the A/T position. If you "floor" the accelerator you will see the power light come on as it changes into that shift pattern.
