Tomorrow night on Australian story they are showing the leyland brothers and first footage of Ayres rock with cascading waterfalls and the 4wding in deep water.

I think it would be very interesting .. I grew up watching the leyland brothers so looking forward to it.

Yeah, I can still remember their song from the documentary of their trip across the widest part of the continent. They had a vial of Pacific Ocean water that one of the brothers tipped into the Indian Ocean at the completion of the trek.

Thanks jono, Enjoyed that. Sad towards the end, but awesome times in the early years. Cool old series 1 & 2 landies and making a prop out of a baked bean tin!. . . Ah how times have changed. . .

Remember looking at Leyland brothers world bout 10 years ago all deserted, pretty sad.

I especially liked their first Cape York trip tialling some "NEW" 31" tyres lol
With no knowledge of tyre pressures they destroyed the fatties, OH&s was well out the door
with some very dangerous recoveries, Over packed and under powered, From the Landies they went to drive Jeep Cherokee
and then finally a V dub Kombi, Dont think I missed a show

I just love those early day when everything was new and many things had never been seen before.... that footage of Ayers Rock was magic and that is when I would love to see the place.

There are not many new places anymore... most iconic places will have someone standing there with a mobile phone videoing as you pass by.

I remember as a kid in the 70's going to remote beaches in the ol Kombi van... us kids were nudie toots all day in the sun.

And yes at 42 I am a young man compared to some...lol

Ive was lucky enough in 81 camped at the base of the rock in the Rangers station to see water absolutely pouring off the rock.
Definitely a must see, especially with some lightning strikes in the area

just watched it on iview, what an incredible story and how sad they could never sort out their differences before their time together passed.
