From another thread:
Hi Nev, I can highly recommend Chris Dalton from Dalton Engineering in Wood St South Geelong to tune your TD42T, he is a great guy and will get a great result for you. tell him what you want and he will get it for you. Very well priced and an honest Tune. Make sure you have fitted you manual Boost COntroller before you go there and he will sort it out for you.
This is advice I intend to follow, Geelong is much closer & easier to access than Lilydale.
I’ve had a squiz on eBay & see that manual boost controllers vary in price from around $25 up to around $300. I note MR’s recommendation that one be fitted before going to Chris Dalton but never having come across these things before I have some questions.
1. What is a good boost controller to buy for the TD42i? Recommendations please.
2. Why the huge variation in price. What does paying more get you?
3. How do they work. I can see how they could restrict boost, but how can they increase it? Is there some sort of factory ‘controller’which it replaces?
4. Where would you fit one on a TD42i? (Pics?)
5. Would it be best for me to fit it, or take it to Chris Dalton & him to fit it as part of the tune. If I were to fit it can I do damage by not having the boost set correctly. How would I ensure the motor retained it’s current boost prior to getting it tuned in Geelong?
