View Full Version : Surging under power

Recently had a 3" system fitted as well as the Torqit power module and Pedal torq to my 2013 ST Patrol. Wow, what a difference. However, seems it has highlighted a problem that I believe has been with the Patrol since new. Under power it feels like either fuel starvation or a dicky throttle sensor causing the engine to surge on and off. The acceleration is like a sine wave; comes on then goes off. Most noticeable at about 3k rpm. Anyone got any ideas?

Just out of interest, we're the 2013 models included in the TPS recall and if so, was yours done? Not saying that's the issue but could be a possibility. Does your engine light come on?

Mine will do this from time to time not sure why.
Have just fitted boost gauge so maybe that will
show something

EGR valve maybe? Mate had a similar thing with his landrover, after an ecu remap (which should have disabled the egr) it was surging due to the egr opening and closing. They downloaded a new map and fixed the issue...not saying yours is related to a ecu map, but maybe egr related

If it is the EGR block you might need to drill a 10mm hole in it

Just a quick up date my boost gauge pulse I suppose you could say
from around 11 to 16 PSI mostly after changing up into 4th while
still under reasonable throttle Not sure if the EGR is blocked or not.

Have you fitted a tigged IC yet and check all your hoses [boost] for tightness and leaks
